The MMU Uttarakhand Program operates across three key districts—Tehri Garhwal, Udham Singh Nagar, and Haridwar—covering multiple villages in each region. The five MMUs are strategically deployed to serve the healthcare needs of communities in different assembly constituencies, including Tehri, Jaspur, Kashipur, Haridwar Rural, and Laksar. Each MMU is staffed with a Medical Doctor and a Nurse and follows a pre-scheduled route to provide doctor consultations, free medication distribution, and basic diagnostic assessments using glucometers, BP monitors, pulse oximeters, and thermometers. These services ensure that residents in remote and underserved areas receive timely and essential medical care at no cost, reducing barriers to healthcare access and improving overall health outcomes in the region.

India’s healthcare landscape has witnessed significant improvements over the years, yet accessibility, affordability, and quality of healthcare remain critical challenges, especially in rural and remote regions. In a country where nearly 70% of the population resides in villages and 80% of specialists are concentrated in urban areas, the healthcare gap is evident. Despite the establishment of Sub-Centres, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Community Health Centres (CHCs) under various national health programs, many remote communities still struggle to access even basic medical services.
To bridge this gap, Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) have emerged as a transformative solution—delivering quality healthcare directly to underserved populations, eliminating the need for long and costly travel to distant healthcare facilities.
Currently, five MMUs are serving the state across the following districts:
Each MMU is staffed with a qualified doctor and a nurse and is equipped with basic medical devices, including:
These MMUs operate on a pre-scheduled visit plan, ensuring that healthcare services reach even the most remote villages at no cost to the beneficiaries.
By eliminating travel barriers and financial constraints, these MMUs are strengthening rural healthcare delivery and ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward better health.
MMUs are more than just mobile clinics—they are lifelines for millions, transforming rural healthcare by:
By leveraging technology, dedicated medical teams, and a patient-centric approach, our MMU program in Uttarakhand is setting new benchmarks in mobile healthcare delivery, making healthcare a right, not a privilege!
